Following a second Gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show for wedding design work, Sarah Horne, proprietor of Sarah Horne Flowers, Leamington Spa, was invited by the prestigious American Institute of Floral Designers to submit a proposal to present a programme of her bridal designs at the 2008 symposium in Chicago.

Sarah has just heard that the proposal has been accepted. This means that Sarah will be flying to Chicago to present a 45 minute design show in front of an international audience of florists expected to number between 1000 to 1500, commenting Sarah said,

"This has always been an ambition of mine. I was so thrilled when they actually approached me to write the programme as often it can take years to have a programme accepted by AIFD. It is by far and away the most prestigious show in the world to present at and a dream come true for me, the planning has already started. I can only thank my great team at Sarah Horne Flowers for helping me to realise this amazing opportunity through what has been the busiest wedding season ever for us in the shop".

Sarah Horne Flowers take America by Storm

Sarah Horne of Sarah Horne Flowers has just arrived back from Chicago having presented a programme of her design work to an international audience of around 1100 florists for the American Institute of Floral Designers.

‘It was the most amazing experience of my life,’ says Sarah

‘I have been working with my team at Sarah Horne Flowers on the designs and content of the programme for almost a year but every minute of it was worth while as the response to the show was phenomenal. It was a dream come true, to present a programme at such a prestigious event, to so many of my piers from around the world. I have already had enquiries about further workshops and demonstrations in the USA as well as other countries.'

The programme was called ‘For Your eyes Only’ and as you’ve probably guessed it had a James Bond theme.

Sarah and her team, Jo Jarvis, Natalie Stanyer and Joe Massie all flew in to Chicago 6 Days before the show and worked at Anthony Gowder Designs and the Chicago Hilton preparing the 47 designs which were to be shown on stage.

On 5th July at 11am Sarah presented the programme to a packed audience who gave her a standing ovation not only at the end, but 4 minutes into the programme too!
